ODSA Development

Coaching

For Ultimate, the delivery of coaching certification takes place with the confines of the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) and the accreditation process towards the offered elements within their National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP - both general and sport specific). It is to this extent that the National Sport Organization (NSO) which is Ultimate Canada, develops it's criteria and coaching programs better know as the contexts, then has them certified by the CAC as NCCP (Sport Specific) offerings and once approved as such, it is then up to the PSO, which is the ODSA, to deliver the offerings and help to train and certify through working with, and employing trained/certified Learning Facilitators and/or Master Learning Facilitators to deliver the courses/workshops re the contexts.

Ultimate Canada working with the ODSA to which funding has been provided in the development of courses, training and certification through the generous contributions of the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) has currently developed and is offering 2 out of 3 Ultimate contexts for Training

Long Term Athlete Development

Long Term Athlete Development, better known as LTAD is another component of the sporting world's vernacular that helps in the development of play and the making of an athlete based on a principal of putting in your hours.  Similar to a book written by Malcolm Gladwell called the Outliers, which pretty much predicates that you need 10,000 hours to become great at anything. Knowing that, LTAD was around well before that book was written, LTAD basically stated that the there was a principal involved from the playground to the podium and that it took 10 years to make a champion a similar understanding of 10,000 hours input for a payoff. However LTAD takes an in-depth look at ones sport and suggests varying components towards introduction (Learn to Play) and the development of skills at multiple levels (Train to Play - Learn to Train - Train to Win) and is quit unique in the way that it explores sport both for the participants and also brings much insight to the parents.

ODSA again through funding partnerships championed with the Ontario Trillium Foundation helped to develop and bring to the table Ultimate Canada's LTAD overview on the sport of Ultimate, follow the highlighted text to explore 72 pages of insight.
